Description:
Cliff Fadiman once said, “When you re-read a classic, you do not see more in the book than you
did before, you see more in you than there was before.”
History is created by men and women who had the courage and conviction to do what they
thought was right. We have, in our midst towering personalities who, through their words and
actions, left an indelible mark in their sphere of work. And that precisely, is the theme for this
year’s book review competition organized by Sumantra, the Book Club. The competition will
consist of book reviews of biographies or autobiographies of six famous personalities belonging
to different fields ranging from politics to sports.

The biographies/ autobiographies are:
• Mein Kampf - Adolf Hitler
• My Life - Bill Clinton
• My experiments with truth - Mahatma Gandhi
• It’s Not about the bike - Lance Armstrong
• Wings of Fire - A P J Abdul Kalam

General Guidelines:
• Entries are invited from individuals.
• Stage 1 is an elimination round, you need to send a 500 word write-up with a brief review
and learning’s if any from the book.
• Stage 2 will be held at the institute. This will require the participant to make a
presentation on the write up he/she had submitted earlier.
• Presentation time for book review in stage 2 should not exceed 10 minutes.
• Format for review:
o Font Size: 12
o Font Type: Times New Roman
o Line Spacing: 1.5
• The decision of the judges will be final and binding on all the participants.
