Monopoly
Mukesh Ambani has said “I think that our fundamental belief is that for us growth is a way of
life and we have to grow at all times”
Description:
Monopoly is a board game. Players compete to acquire wealth through
stylized economic activity involving the buying, renting, and trading of properties using
play money, as players take turns moving around the board according to the roll of the dice. The
object of the game is to bankrupt the other players. The game is named after the economic
concept of monopoly, the domination of a market by a single entity.
General instructions:
Players who would like to participate in the game will have to register on the spot before a given
stipulated time. On the basis of the names collected a pool will be made and random names shall
be generated to pick up participants in the same groups. Groups of 5 shall be made and they shall play against each other. The winner of each group will then form another group and play in the next rounds.
Rules and regulations for the participants:
Players take turns in order, with the initial player determined by chance before the game. A
typical turn begins with the rolling of the dice and advancing clockwise around the board the
corresponding number of squares. Landing on Chance or Community Chest, a player draws the
top card from the respective pile. If the player lands on an unowned property, whether street,
railroad or utility, he can buy the property for its listed purchase price. If he declines this
purchase, the property is auctioned off by the bank to the highest bidder. If the property landed
on is already owned and unmortgaged, he must pay the owner a given rent, the price dependent
on whether the property is part of a monopoly or its level of development. If a player rolls
doubles, he rolls again after completing his turn. Three sets of doubles in a row, however, land
the player in jail. During a turn, players may also choose to develop or mortgage properties.
Development involves the construction, for given amounts of money paid to the bank, of houses
or hotels. Development must be uniform across a monopoly, such that a second house cannot be
built on one property in a monopoly until the others have one house. No merges between players are allowed. All developments must be sold before a property can be mortgaged. The player
receives money from the bank for each mortgaged property, which must be repaid with interest
to unmortgage.
• Time Limit of Ninety minutes.
• At the start of the game CU 2000 is given out to each of the player
• Players in jail cannot collect rent, build houses or conduct trades.
• Player with highest Net worth at the end of 90 minutes wins the game.

Advert Company Profile: Tevi’s India co.
Tevi’s, one of the biggest denim brands of the world is changing the strategies for its Denims and Non-Denim brands for its Indian operations. In the global market Tevi’s is known to be a premium jeans maker. In India on the one hand it is seeking to expand its presence in the Premium and Super- Premium segment by launching more products in this segment. On the other hand, it is working to capture the Indian value segment market i.e. Rs 600- 2000 which is currently estimated at about 10 million units. but Tevi’s India does not want to position themselves as a low cost jeans maker because it might hamper their global brand image; for that matter they are now planning to launch a altogether new value segment brand Parker, priced between Rs 599- Rs999 (USD 15- USD 25) in small towns and up to Rs 1399(USD 35) in larger
towns by having more than 5000 sale points for the same throughout India (1000 in first year and another 4000 in next two years). The Value offering of Parker will be Tevi’s take on the local Indian brands who are selling jeans in the range of Rs 600-Rs1200/ - but who do not have the brand value. Tevi’s has decided to invest Rs.20cr in the next one year for branding Parker
which would include print ads and television advertisement.
• You are required to make two different print ads for news papers/magazines and bill boards respectively.
• You can use a brand ambassador to endorse your product but you have to justify your decision (Nothing is free so how would this help your brand?)

Strategy Game: Empuje Usted
percentages were not acceptable to our customers. In other words, 99 percent sounds great,
unless you're the one percent who we don't deliver for."
Description:
not to charge because you are a vegetarian."
A quote which very well sums up the essence of life. Who would not like to live in a world that
is governed by their whims and fancies? Same holds true for every marketer. Each one of us
marketers out there would love to have a world buoyed by huge economic growth, supportive
governments and absolutely loyal customers.
But as they say Life is not always that fair. Same in a market, it is never governed by any sense
of logic that a marketer can come up with. Every marketer has to adapt and change himself and
his strategies according to the situation.
This event tries to bring out that manager in you who can adapt in this rapidly changing
environment and lead. It will judge people on their capabilities to cope with a fairly bad situation
and turn it into a position of strength for their company.
Stage 1:
The world is ravaged by wars. Nobody trusts the other nation. The communication channel has
broken down between the countries. In this turbulent scenario the biggest concern for every
company is to break-even, forget making profits. The falling bottom line is a big concern for all
of us. You are a part of one such organization which has been hit by this situation. Being an
ambitious person dedicated to the cause of your company, you decide to come up with a
marketing strategy for the company that would take it to new heights. The most important here
for you is that you have to sell your product to at least two countries.
The detailed situation will be made available to the participants well before the event. The
contestants have to submit a write up outlining their broad marketing strategy which will
encompass all the tools of marketing mix used to promote their brand. The write up should
include:
• Name of the company and the product chosen
• Core competencies of the company
• Product description
• Points of parity and points of differentiation of the product
• Marketing mix of the strategy
• Corporate Strategy
• Logo of the company
• Countries chosen to market the product and its reasoning
• Celebrities chosen to endorse the product
• The cost of marketing in the given situation
This round will be an online round and the participants are required to submit their write-ups by mail. It’s an elimination round and the best strategies will be chosen and the participants will
qualify for the next round to be held at the institute.
Stage 2:
Presentation: The best strategies will be invited to the institute to give a presentation of their
strategy. The presentation shall include the salient features of their strategy. The participants
have to make the judges and audience realize that theirs was the best possible strategy.
